Hot Weather Safety Tips

Chief Michael Sullivan and the Wakefield Fire Department would like to remind residents to take heat safety precautions this summer, especially during activities that take place outdoors.

Now that summer is here, we want to remind residents to enjoy the nice weather responsibly, said Chief Sullivan. Stay hydrated, and try to wear loose, light-colored clothing when outdoors, especially on particularly hot days. Please follow these safety guidelines to keep yourself and your loved ones safe and healthy.

The American Red Cross reports that excessive heat is a leading cause of weather-related deaths and injuries. To avoid heat-related illness and injuries, the Wakefield Fire Department recommends the following safety tips from the American Red Cross and National Safety Council:
